Old Home Days

Meetings

The Old Home Days committee meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM. Meetings are held in the Town Hall, 4 School St, Merrimac. Meetings are brief, open to all, and no long term commitments are required. We welcome new members and fresh ideas.

The committee has begun planning for Old Home Days 2009. Topics of discussion will center around fundraising efforts and promoting further community involvement. We'd like to encourage individuals who may be interested and able to assist with one fundraiser to join us.

Family Dance Party

The Merrimac Old Home Days Committee will once again sponsor a family dance party. The event will take place on Saturday, February 14th from 7-9 at the Sweetsir School. Admission is $5. Sweets and flowers will be on sale as well. Come dance the night away as our DJ plays the tunes.

Planning 2009 Events

The Old Home Days Committee is looking to bring back the "family" softball tournament as part of the 2009 festivities. Their is also talk of a kid's soccer event and possibly a little league "homerun derby." In order for these events to get up and running, we need enthusiastic, sports-minded individuals that could give some time/input. If you feel you'd be able to help in any way please contact Kevin O'Keefe at: kevin.okeefe@verizon.net. You may also direct your inquiries to oldhomedays@gmail.com.

2008 Appreciation

The Merrimac Old Home Days Committee would like to extend our thanks to the citizens and businesses of Merrimac and its surrounding communities! Your enthusiasm and overwhelming support contributed to another successful event!

Highlights included the bonfire, which went off with much effort on Friday evening. Many thanks to the Merrimac Fire Department! Other family favorites: hay rides by Tom Flinn, the Bake-off and Anything on Wheels parade. New this year: Pony rides by J&J Ponies and a Sidewalk Chalk Contest sponsored by the Merrimac Cultural Council.

Thank you to the varied and talented musicians that made the weekend so enjoyable: Beth Wimmer, Merrimack Valley Concert Band, Rhino Chasers, Vic and Sticks, Maeve and Adam, Mendonca & Bobby Spellman Jazz Quintet. Many thanks to the various town organizations and clubs that participated. Lastly, a big thanks to D.J., John Byra! He kept the party rolling at the Block Dance on Saturday night.
