Yard Waste


The Site is Open Every Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May through November 

  • Municipal Permit is required and can be purchased online.
  • Open May 1, 2020  through November 28, 2020 (weather permitting).
  • Grass, clippings, leaves, and brush accepted every Saturday. 
  • Christmas Trees accepted on Saturday, January 9, 2021 and January 16, 2021. Note: Tree drop off is at Mill Street site.  Permit is not required for Christmas Tree drop off.


Battis Road is the Yard Waste site for 2020.

The Yard Waste Site is located on Battis Road, take Church Street which becomes Highland Road, and Battis Road is the last left just before the New Hampshire border.

Town Permit Required

The yard waste site is for residents only and is not for commercial use. Permits are required for making drop offs. Town permits must be renewed yearly. Residents can purchase town yard waste permits online with Unibank.  Cost is $25 per vehicle. You must be a Merrimac resident and possess a valid vehicle registration to use the site.  Those over 65 and older should fill out the Over 65 Yard Waste Site 2020 Permit  , print it, and take it with you to the site.


Please remove old yard waste site stickers from your windshield.  We will not issue new stickers for this 2020 season.  Place your folded printed receipt with vehicle information visible in the left-hand corner driver's side dashboard before entering the site. This will allow the attendants to view the document clearly.  Thank you for your cooperation.  


The Board of Selectmen's office has partnered with Unibank to be able to provide online payment options to its residents. With this service, you will be able to pay for your yard waste site permit by using your credit/debit card or by using your bank account. Please print your receipt to present at the site.  


Leaves, Grass, & Clippings

Acceptable items include leaves, grass, and clippings. No garbage allowed. Take all bags with you.

Brush Collection

Brush will be allowed  every Friday and Saturday.  Acceptable items include only brush. No roots, dirt, trash, or trunks over 3 inches diameter will be accepted. Lay sticks and branches neatly in piles. The site monitor has the authority to refuse drop off of unacceptable materials. Please help keep the site open by following the rules for drop off.

White Goods

White goods(appliances) are no longer accepted at Yard Waste Site. Curbside pick-up for fee on the first Friday of the month is provided by Casella. Bulk item stickers for white goods are to be purchased online. Cost is $20 per item.
